When completing your Medical Form we ask you to identify two Emergency Contacts. Here are nine tips to help you:
Identify a primary and backup emergency contact.
Provide at least two telephone numbers for each person.
Will the primary person serve as your legal representative in the event you are unable to answer for yourself? Will they have Power of Attorney for (your) Healthcare? What about the backup person?
Choose a spouse, partner, family member, or another responsible party who can be in contact with family, friends, and any others with a stake in your well-being.
Ensure they understand their responsibilities and what you are asking of them. Confirm their commitment to be available and responsive to any inbound calls.
Advise them to put "Big Round World" in their Contacts.
Before leaving home, provide them with your basic trip details and your travel insurance information. Remind them of time zone differences, especially if traveling internationally.
Keep your Emergency Contacts information up-to-date.
Make your Emergency Information accessible - program your smart phone and carry a paper copy of your Medical Form, in a waterproof bag, in your daypack.
